Wonersh KFC and Light Factory have supported Abel and Tigist through Tearfund since about 1994.  They are funded through collections from the children themselves. Our support was £600 in 2006 and in 2007 it was £400.

Tigist Mohammed is from Ethiopia just west of Addis Ababa.  She was born in October 1989 and lives with her family, sometimes looked after by her mother or elder brother.  She only started attending school as a result of sponsorship.   She attends Sunday School and keeps us informed of her favourite verses and lets us know about out trips they go on.  We also send money which helps her Christmas presents.

Abel Lopez is from Dagnpan City, north of Manila, Philippines.  He was born November 1987 and lives with his parents, 6 brothers and sister.  He attends Sunday School.

Tearfund keep us informed about the children and in a recent letter said:-

“Your support is providing Abel with a Christian education, healthcare and an opportunity to develop vital social and life skills.  Thanks to you he can now experience the joys of a proper childhood.  You are also giving him the chance to break free from the cycle of poverty that enslaves so many people around the world.

Abel’s community will also benefit from your support.  Sponsored children often teach their families how to read and write, who in turn help to teach friends and neighbours.  Many of the children become committed Christians and go on to be the informed influential community leaders.”
