It
came to Lawnsmead!
A great time was had
by the 46 children who came to the Holiday Club during half-term week, as well as
the many leaders, helpers and behind-the-scenes people who took part. Through the stories of Samson, Jonah, Elijah,
Daniel and Moses we learned that God uses ordinary people like you and me to do
great things in His strength. We can trust our faithful, loving God and He is
with us all the time.
Of course, the
children learned some circus skills – one day we even had a professional circus
performer. On other days our youth workers, past and present, demonstrated and
taught their skills. There was a daily drama concerning the Watt family and
their circus which almost had to give up but all was well in the end. The
ring-master (one Paddy MacVean) managed to hold
things together with the help of the children and Grandma Watt (thought by some
to be Jon Noble in disguise). Then there were lively songs, games, jokes,
cooking, art and craft, and crazy ways of helping us remember verses from the
Bible, as well as times to pray and be more reflective about what we were
learning.
We give thanks to God
for supplying our needs, strengthening and inspiring us and we pray now for His
words to bear fruit in the children’s lives.
