Our group
is made up of women and any pre-school children who come along with their
Mums. There are about 12 of us, covering
quite a wide age range. Although most of
us have part-time jobs, we find that a daytime home group suits us all best at
the moment. A few of us have been
members for over 10 years but several have joined in the last year and all feel
equally at home. Most of us have school
age children so we meet in term time only, from 10.15am until 12 noon. We all understand that family, church and
work commitments mean that not all of us get to the group every week. 6-10 of us each week is normal.
Most of our
meetings include social time, prayer and Bible study, though the balance
changes from week to week. There is
always a lot of laughter! We tend to
follow the same material as the other groups but often have to change the dates
to fit in with term time. For example, we
start the Lent course early in February and sometimes don’t finish it until
May! Earlier this year, as a change from
conventional Bible study, we read and discussed Rick Warren’s book ‘The
Purpose Driven Life’.
Our terms
usually start with a ‘coffee & catch up’ week and end with a shared
meal. We have occasional socials (such
as a theatre trip or a country walk) too and support each other in practical
ways as well as in prayer.
Friendship,
fun and mutual support are as important to us as prayer and Bible study, but
one wouldn’t exist without the other.
